So it begins.

Every great idea in all the world has its perks and its challenges. Starting this adventure we have met a few of each. I'll start on a good note, we made it. We emptied and cleaned our house,

loaded almost everything we own into a 4x8 trailer, pulled said trailer over 24 hours without mishap with our tiny sedan,

and we made it to new mexico.

All of that added together is a pretty great feat and I am really grateful we have no hilarious stories to share of catastrophes that happened on the road, like REALLY grateful. But to be honest, a lot of that good attitude left when I realized what space we would be sharing until our house gets ready in a few weeks.

A better person would note, "Hey, at least there is a door to the bathroom!" I am not that person. I am the human that immediately uses that door to hide behind and throw a nice little temper tantrum about styrofoam comforters and dirty bathrooms.

But then...

But then...

(Seriously guys, that needed two transition statements because the positive absolutely smashed the negative in this situation.)

We began to explore Albuquerque and it is really just an amazing city. It has good shopping,

really cool plant and TONS of hummingbirds.

The parks are very clean

and the view is stunning.

We went on our first hike in the Sandia Mountains on Saturday and it was honestly one of the most exhilarating and mesmerizing moments of my life. My little hikers did such a fantastic job. They tell every person we talk to that they climbed a mountain, which they really did. Those brilliant little girls.

We definitely have a lot of lessons to learn and gear to buy

but even being new to it all, we are hooked. Every day the girls ask if we can go climb another mountain.

Mattie is now the proud owner of a pair of hiking boots and Zadie and I have some headed to us. We still can't talk them into wearing anything but dresses, but hey, they sure do make hiking cute!

Mat had to rest at the top because we had to climb this path to get to the summit.

It's no wonder why those girls are so proud of themselves! They were so cautious and brave. I was one proud mamma. But, in all honesty, we wont be doing a trek like that until everyone has the right gear. Good thing I love shopping!

We went to visit the Rio Grande on Sunday but we took the wrong path and did not end up at a very picturesque spot. I'll post some pictures next time we visit. Also, sorry about the crappy picture quality. We lugged the big camera out to the hike just to realize I left the battery charging back at the hotel. Whoops!

So, we are finally on our adventure, and an adventure it has definitely been! We are so grateful to have ended up in New Mexico. It sure is a beautiful state that just beckons for you to be outside all the time. We miss everyone so much. We wish you could all be here with us!

Until next time,
